E.ON U.S. is in search of an Electrical Engineer to work in its Electrical Engineering & Planning Group. This position works independently utilizing engineering tools, planning techniques, procedures, policies and standards to assess the need for new or expanded electric system capacity, ensures proper system configuration, protection and reliability, develops system load forecasts, performs contingency studies and provides engineering and technical support to electric operations centers, System Restoration And Dispatch, Substation Construction And Maintenance and others.

Major Accountabilities: Electric System Planning assignments are broad in nature and the successful candidate will have latitude for independent actions or decisions. Candidate will provide support to Operations Centers, System Restoration & Dispatch, Substation Construction & Maintenance and others as requested. Support includes general engineering duties, the application of codes, policies and standards, recommendations for new service requirements, equipment sizing, evaluation of circuit protective coordination, power factor, voltage regulation, system reliability, phase balancing, optimal system configuration and loading analysis. Candidate will develop electric system models and perform electric system analysis and studies to complete assignments such as voltage conversion studies, load forecasts for substations and circuits, performing protective coordination of new distribution facilities and contingency analysis for distribution circuits and substation transformers. Candidate will assist in performing an annual review of the electric distribution system, identifies system capacity issues and evaluates the most cost effective means of addressing new load and system capacity constraints. Candidate assists in the development of Distribution Operations capital plan by coordinating the development of budget proposals for system enhancement projects and acts as a proponent for capacity enhancement projects from inception through final approval. Candidate assists in the development of goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the group and identifies opportunities for improvement. Ensures safety, engineering excellence, reliability, efficiency and cost effectiveness are fundamental drivers in the completion of all assignments. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Group Leader, Electric System Analysis and Planning.

Recommended Education/Experience: A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is required. Experience in electric distribution, transmission or resource planning or related power system engineering experience is desired.

Special Qualifications: An aptitude for mathematical modeling and utilizing PC based computer applications. Sound business decision making capabilities with understanding of both regulated and non-regulated businesses. An appreciation and understanding of engineering and business issues associated with distribution system analysis and planning, as well as asset management methodologies.
Creative problem solving skills along with strong oral and written communication abilities. Willingness to work with internal and external customers to ensure high customer satisfaction. Occasional statewide and overnight travel will be required. Position will require rotational 24-hour on call support of the Public Safety Response Team (PSRT).
